One Night Without a Home

Mission in Citrus Homeless Shelter’s “One Night without a Home”

Location: Next to Sim’s Furniture Galleries LLC on Hwy 44 in Inverness. Between Sims and the Old Italian Social Club.

Time: Friday from 8 am till Saturday at 8 am.

Why:

The “One Night “is an opportunity for Citrus County residents to spend a night outside to discuss, think, and learn about homelessness. Although one night outside can in no way simulate homelessness, this awareness-raising activity can promote advocacy and education.

To collect donations of sleeping bags, tents, blankets, food, and money to further our homeless services. Many of our homeless residents in the woods are cold and hungry. There are only beds for 10 % of our homeless population on any given night.

To remove the fear factor…Very few crimes are committed by the homeless when compared to the overall population. They don’t bite…

To raise awareness among our Community leaders and Politicians that more must be done. All residents should be treated equally.

Our Mission: To End Homelessness in Citrus County…

Rules for the Night of the Event:

Drugs, alcohol, fighting, and weapons of any kind are prohibited. Any violation of the law or any type of immoral behavior will be reported to the Sheriff’s Dept immediately.

Overnight visitors may bring a sleeping bag and tent… Dress warm…Temps will be low.

All trash to be placed in designated containers.

Everyone must leave by 9 am Saturday.

No fires. Bring flashlights or lantern.

Bathrooms, coffee, and refreshments will be provided… Burn barrel will be used to keep warm if the County allows it… There will be a candlelight vigil and prayer for the homeless at Midnight.

We would like to thank Habitat for Humanity for providing the truck to accept donations.

Sim’s Furniture Galleries and Sim’s Auto Sales for letting us use the property.

Wal-Mart and Pepperidge Farm Outlet, and Dunkin Donuts for their generous support…

Other sponsors will be added and acknowledged as they join in. Please call 270-8809 to help.

We invite all residents of Citrus County to attend. We ask that Churches attend and help us Pray.. We need your support. We ask for Community leaders to come out and show that you care. Come one…Come all…

Our goal is to fill the Habitat for Humanity Truck with donations, for the homeless camps and to fill our tub with cash so that we can expand and house more homeless residents in Citrus County.

For I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in;
